Do you have PC, or are you worried that you might?

Diabetes is a risk factor for PC. But also, some people only discover they have PC after finding out they have high blood sugar - a new diagnosis for diabetes.

My Mom's diabetes was caused by her PC.

My Mom's sugar was over 650 when they discovered it on blood testing. She was walking around with diabetes for MONTHS before it was discovered. In retrospect, she had a biopsy months before that was very slow to heal properly because her (unknown) high blood sugar/diabetes was interfering with wound healing.

My Mom's PC was found soon after her diabetes because she was having other symptoms at that point that lead to imaging.... She had weakness in her hands, from invasion of the PC to her spine and nerves. So MRI and CT scans soon followed for the weakness problems. Cancer was everywhere, with a huge tumor in her pancreas that was causing her diabetes.

Most diabetes is not caused by PC of course. Also, increases in alkaline phosphatase are very non-specific. They can be caused by many things. PC would not be the first thing on any doctor's mind if a patient came in with those findings.... and the doctors wouldn't be wrong either for not thinking about it.
