Ascites can be a result of an infection, a blockage, or mets. Try not to jump to that last conclusion, although the information out there about occurrence with pc can be scary. They should, if they deem it safe, do a Paracentesis and apply an ostomy bag. The fluid may come back but the drain should alleviate some discomfort. They will test he fluid for all the things I mentioned. I am sending you good thoughts.

during her recent battle, my mom had ascites and the people on the board were very helpful. Be aware that doctors will not likely provide a cause. it could be a surgical complication (if that course was pursued) or side effect from chemo. It can also recur. Watch out for clots associated with ascites as well.

Sending some positivity your family's way.
