There is no other answer that it was his time. Only God knows the hour of our passing.
Your father was blessed to have his family around him. Your family supported and loved him and will miss him deeply, I'm sure. Death is a part of life though we treat it as if we can change the outcome. We don't get to do that. What we do get to do is support our loved ones as much as possible and it is a gift to witness their journey.
It's okay to be angry and to think that you could have/should have done more.
Let yourself off the hook. You did the best you could and your father knew
he was loved and he loved in return. At the end of our days, that is the
greatest testament to a life well lived.
