I had this surgery in May 2013--different tumor, but caught early enough for surgery, long story, no symptoms. From being on this listserve, I would say it is definitely less complicated than a Whipple. But I also had a major complication--a pancreatic leak--which I knew was a possibility. After several months (multiple hospitalizations, two months on IV nutrition), it healed, and I was able to move along with my treatment in September. And I have had no long lasting effects from the surgery. My digestion is perfectly normal now. It isn't easy, and the complications are real. But I agree with the previous posters that if you are healthy and well enough for the surgery, go for it. I have mets now, but I am still glad that I had the surgery and gave 'a cure' my very best shot! No regrets. Jill
