Hi, my mom was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer yesterday. She's 66, and it's localized to the pancreas. It's pressing against the portal vein. So the plan is to do chemo for 4-6 weeks to shrink it down enough to get it off of the vein, and then do the Whipple. Has anyone had a similar situation with the placement of the tumor being against the portal vein? The oncologist wants to hit it with the most powerful chemo that will have the least about of side effects for her. From personal experience, which chemo drug would YOU choose?

Thanks so much!

Crissy
