Well we beat the low platelet issue but not the metastatic problem. My husband passed on Sunday from complications of scoliosis? pressure from a metastatic PC soft tissue mass around his spine. It has been six years of living, not dying, as we took each day as it came along with 4 grandchildren and one yet to come. We hope we helped not only others with this disease but also the many, many doctors who may now think outside of the box. Ray was willing to endure new things not only for himself but for the future. He also was one of the '3 month time frame' (which was never asked anyway) patients back in 2008 but instead proved them wrong for quite some time thereafter! Often doctors would say how lucky and rare Ray was to survive so long without a complete Whipple but he always corrected them by reminding them that things are changing and cooperation among doctors and education helped us most. Keep up the good work everyone as this discussion board has always helped us in odd and sometimes humorous ways. We did it with your help and hope we helped others!. Thanks!!! Ray & Pat
