Pancreas CancerWhat else to do was posted 04/29/2014 01:16 am by Gregd
Please stay on top your Mom's bowel movements. Confirm by observing the bowel
movement before the flush to make sure there is a bowel movement every day.
When my wife went to the hospital for a week to get her bowels moving after 5
days of no movement, they got her moving again and I demanded a regiment to
be sent home with to avoid this in the future, here is what the Duke doctors
1. If bowel movements are daily and formed, 2 Sennakot-S twice daily.
2. If no bowel movement after 24 hours, increast to 3 Sennakot-S twice daily.
3. If no bowel movement after 48 hours, Miralax laxative added on top the 3
Sennakot-S and done daily until a movement occurs.
Fleet enema may also be needed, or over the counter Miralax or Durolax
suppository. If the bowels get really stopped up for 3+ days, you have to
treat both ends.
Pain - please make sure your Mom's pain level is below a 5 and not
debilitating her, causing nausea or poor appetite. If it is, than this has to
be the main priority. Get the pain down or malnutrition will occur and health
status will continue to go down and get worse. It is hard to come back from
malnutrition and poor health status. Stay on top of it.
