This is a hard one.

You can't get it in Chicago.

Northwestern and U of Chicago are the best places for oncology in the area. Dr. Al Benson at northwestern is the most respected oncologist, and has an excellent reputation Nationally. He knows the field incredibly well, including interesting clinical trials. BUT... He has the bedside manner of a rock, and you will wait hours to see him, and he is out of town frequently. He also only follows nationally recognized treatment guidelines. Never thinks outside the box. However, his nurses, and chemo nurse, are excellent and supportive. Northwestern also has a good team of docs to help if needed - palliative care, pain, gi etc...

University of Chicago has more trials in general, but no one of Dr. Benson's stature. Dr Kindler is at University of Chicago.

We spent some time at each place, and I was never satisfied.

Keep us posted if you find someone.
