For the patient depending on if it is just sporadic or after a particular situation if short in duration perhaps to just be sure to give yourself a break. However, if it seems to be a continuing pattern or an intense pattern of behavior at times, then I would let his PCP or other primary doctor know and ask if a medication might be prescribed to take the edge of the mood as depression and anxiety are very common side effects with PC. But for yourself as this care giving can be quite intense and extended, try and see what you also need to keep a balance, too. Don't just pretend that all is fine in front of family members as most likely family and close friends are concerned about your well-being, too.
