No ERCP for me was posted 02/24/2014 06:00 pm by ADBelva

I was just informed by GI doc that he does not want to do an ERCP to look at my pancreatic cyst. Says it will be too dangerous for me. He said he will not do an ERCP on anyone unless there is a blocked or dilated duct. There's too big a risk of pancreatitis. He said he doesn't want to give me more problems than I already have. He will do another EUS instead.

Although I appreciate his concern for my well-being, I am disappointed because I thought an ERCP would show the location of the cyst better and whether it was a main duct or side branch IPMN. He says he will be able to tell with EUS. I hope he's right. I have confidence in this doctor because he has is an expert in endoscopic techniques and was Director of the Endoscopic Ultrasound Unit at Johns Hopkins.

I asked him why my last EUS would have missed it and he said 'the other doc just didn't see it'. Well folks, that's why I want further testing because I am wondering if there might be something else the other doctor 'just didn't see'.

Appt for EUS on March 11 - would appreciate prayers from anyone who is so inclined. Thanks!
