wishing my fellow pancreatic cancer warriors a very very very merry
I started following this board when my dad was diagnosed last year right
after thanksgiving and it has offered countless indispensable pieces of
advice and information. I can't begin to express my gratitude.
this board is a blessing and helped aid me along the whirlwind drama that a
pancreatic cancer diagnosis puts you in.
immediately following my dad's diagnosis he retired from practicing medicine
and spent the past year living life to the fullest. He had a great year
filled with many memories, laughter and smiles spent with family and friends.
At the beginning of november he started experiencing the all to familiar
extreme abdominal pain. We were hoping that with treatment as he started his
clinical trial in Madison the pain would subside, but after receiving his
first round of treatment, it was discovered that the cancer had spread and he
would no longer qualify as a candidate. On December 13 the decision was made
to withdraw my dad from treatment and bring in hospice to our home... and
focus on making him as comfortable as possible.
It has been over two weeks now and my Dad is on his final days. last night
we celebrated Christmas Eve in the living room with Dad surrounded by
organized chaos. Even though he is unconscious we still believe he can hear
the laughter and bantering.
We are so blessed that we can still enjoy his presence during this memorable
time of year.
Many many prayers and hugs to all of you pancan warriors...past and present.
