Just to be clear... the jaundice/itchy skin/pale stool/dark urine are symptoms of a blocked bile duct.

The bile duct can be blocked for many reasons, *one* of the reasons is a pancreas tumor.

CT/MRI/EUS identifies if there is something present that doesn't belong.

Blood panels, liver panels, pancreas panels, etc... can indicate if an organ isn't working right. The organ can malfunction due to a tumor.

Biopsy is probably most conclusive - but is unfortunately limited to the ability of the gastro doc's ability to pull a sample.

It's the combination of all four (symptoms, imaging, panels, biopsys) that gives the doctors the best idea of what's going on. Unfortunately, it's also a lot of information for doctors to handle... especially if you consider the number of patients they have. I mean, I can barely keep things straight for myself sometimes.

Best of luck with you father... I hope things get resolved.
