We also live in the NYC region and were originally referred to Chabot at Columbia. He couldn't see us for two weeks, and wouldn't take our insurance. So while we were waiting around for the initial consultation with Chabot, we decided to drive down to Baltimore and see if JHH could help us out. It's only a 3 1/2 drive, and when your life is on the line, the drive is insignificant. JHH got us in, did the whipple, and we were checked out by the time the initial consultation at Columbia was scheduled. Oh, and JHH took our insurance (Anthem) too! Furthermore, the doctors at JHH couldn't have been better. We still make the drive down to Baltimore for our annual CT scans rather than do it locally.

Good Luck.
