I had occasional diarrhea when I was diagnosed in Aug. '96 and lost a lot of weight at the beginning of the disease and during 5FU/radiation treatment. Then I regained much of it, but lost some again, when I switched to the macrobiotic diet. I switched to it, after reading an article by Tulane Univ. researchers that it prolongs life in PC patients. Since the treatment stopped, I have not had diarrhea. I'm sure the diet helps in this regard. Now I'm having pain and my Ca19-9 has gone up to 245 (after dropping into teens 10 months ago), so I'm definitely having a recurrence, but the ct scan has shown no change since the tumor shrank. My oncologist wants to put me on Gemzar, but so far I'm delaying. I'm afraid it won't work and the side effects are so debilitating. Probably I'll have no choice but go on it pretty soon. God bless you.
