Sorry that your friend continues to struggle. By all means, she should consult with another doctor about options but I would think, based on your description, that chemo rather than more surgery would be appropriate.

Sometimes, there is a limit as to what curative value surgery can provide, especially if the cancer is showing up in multiple spots - lungs and pancreas. Clearly this means that the cancer continuing to occur. If the cancer is back in the pancreas then a total pancreatic removal MIGHT be the next step but that would make your friend an instant diabetic with what is called brittle diabetes. It's livable but not without consequences.

I've had 5 surgeries related to cancer - 3 for PC and 2 for breast cancer so I have a lot of sympathy for your friend. Beginning to feel like a turkey at Thanksgiving so if a future surgery were proposed, I really would have to think long and hard to the curative value. Same thing for chemo, too.

She should talk with a surgeon as well as an oncologist.
