My 85 year old mother just informed me by telephone that she has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Other than this, she is in remarkable shape for her age -- a widow, lives alone and is very active. She feels well and had gone for tests because she had lost weight earlier this summer and was not gaining it back. She will be seeing the oncologist and/or surgeon later this week. (She lives in Dayton, OH. I live in Pittsburgh). I intend to be there, if at all possible, for her appointment. I have done a little web surfing and know that this can be a very aggressive form of cancer. I'm new to all of this and would appreciate any suggestions on what kind of questions I should be asking her doctors. She doesn't tend to ask enough questions. Her first response was, "I don't want chemo" -- before she even knew what was involved. I have no idea whether the doctors there are well versed in this or not. Any help you can give me will be much provided. My e-mail address is maryhitt @worldnet.att.net or maryhitt@aol.com. Thank you.
