My father had a scan on Thursday. That evening he had severe stomach cramping and started vomiting. The next day he felt better but last night in the middle of the night my mom rushed him to the ER. He was shaking with severe pains and vomiting again. The dr. Put him on diluad (sp) and sent him home. They said it was the barium trying to pass through his system (he had the whipple in sep). Has anyone had this from the barium you drink from the scan? What do they do if you can't handle the barium? Do they then do MRI's or PET scans?
