I have seen over the years any comments and concerns about the information doctors give to patients about how long they can expect to survive critical illnesses. Life PC. A doctor writes about his difficulty with this in an article in the New York Times today. A link to the article follows. In the same (Health) section today there is an article about Caregivers, and the toll it can take on them, and how many are affected for years. Another interesting article on a subject I have seen discussed on this site as well.
