This board had helped me so much during this journey and if there is anything I can do to help I would be happy to do it. My husband went into the ER feeling weak and having horrible bowel movements. It turned out that he was having a bleed in the duodenum, so they cauterized it and said he would be home in 2 days. He had been doing well, including 2.5 years of NED, but he recently had been back on chemo for some lung mets. His scans had been good and we we had decided to take a chemo break because the chemo had started taking its toll. The night of the cauterization he was feeling great, they had stopped the bleed. However, the next morning he started to bleed again, and this time they could not stop it. He passed away the day before Thanksgiving. I am sharing this because the day before he went into the ER, he went to his oncologist and told him how weak he was feeling and having dark tarry stools and he gave him a prescription for Ritalin. He missed the signs that he was bleeding in spite of the fact that he had been in ICU last August for a week with a bleed. I just wanted to make sure that your wife's doctor is aware of possible bleeding because i keep wondering if my husband had been hospitalized the day before if it would have made a difference.
