Personally if it is a matter of money, I would encourage him to be realistic. Because no matter how much money one has it does not change the outcome of this disease. Money was not an issue for us and it didn't make a difference in the amount of time and suffering that my loved one experienced.

The bigger issue at this point might be quality of life for him and his family and dealing with that might require some tough conversations and some help via social workers, hospice, etc.
