A word of caution: I still don't have a formal scan report, it takes a few days for Duke to post it online. I don't believe it will be dramatically different, but I thought I'd mention it. Also, if indeed my tumors slowed down, there may be other reasons for that, it may be temporary, etc. But I do hope that the scan results are due to the changes below. Here is what I've done since June:
1) Excluded all soda and alcohol (no exceptions), and my regular morning coffee (I still allow it once in a while, about once a week). I also try to limit sugar as much as possible. What that means in practical terms is that I look at the sugar content of what I buy and eat, and I try to avoid obvious offenders. I still allow an occasional desert, just try to make it as sugarless (naturally) as possible.
2) The quack watch alert :-) I did three baking soda sessions, two 5-day ones and one a week-long one. If you are interested to try, I can forward another email from a patient who tried it and who thinks it helps him to control his tumor. I believe it did help me.
3) Based on the what I learned from Capt. Stoney (there is a link to his site on the board) and this book (http://www.drlam.com/book/CancerBook.pdf), I gradually started adding mega doses of vitamins and minerals. This is my current 'menu':
Perfect food (super green formula) by garden of life: one shake in the morning with ~ 15 gm of this stuff. I usually make a smoothie and add this powder to it.
Trans-resveratrol - 500 mg, once daily
CoQ10 300 mg - once daily
Selenium - 100 mcg, twice a day
Zink - 50 mg, once a day
Essiac tonic by Herbal formula - twice a day
Host defense (medicinal mushrooms formula) by Fungi perfect - once a day
Beta-carotene - 25000 iu - twice a day
Alpha Linolenic Acid - 300 mg, twice a day
Amino essentials by Whole foods - three times daily
Vitamin E 400 iu - twice daily
Vitamin C: ~5-7 gms twice daily
Cell foods by Lumina health products - once or twice daily
Creon 24000 units for digestion with every meal
Turmeric - 300 mg - three times daily
Milk thistle 200 mg - up to six pills a day. I am going to stop taking Milk thistle, though, because my liver function labs are not great: it may be more harm than good and I want to see if the labs improve.
Started eating Goji berries for snack.
So far, I've bought all these items at Whole Foods. The cost was ~$300 to start, now I just replenish as I use the items up. It is not cheap, but so far I've avoided really expensive items (Poly-MVA is ~$200 a bottle, sheesh).
4) I have always, for years now, been doing this: eat flaxseed oil with cottage cheese or yogurt in the morning, try to exercise several times a week, try to avoid non-organic produce, household chemicals (including sunscreen), etc. Nothing special, just common sense.
In general, as you can see, there is no particular science here, just a trial and error approach. I do research and try to avoid obvious sensational stuff. The criteria that I use for trying anything: some science behind it (even if it is controversial, some legit researchers need to be behind it), some real life success stories (thank you, Capt. Stoney), and no someone's money-making incentive behind claims.
