that it is really never used. Too pricey, too many possibly bad side effects, not practical since platelets don't last long anyway and they will drop again with the next chemo dose or sooner.

Never heard of anyone on this board using it.

I was annoyed that our oncologist wouldn't at least discuss it with us. But what can you do...

If there is a chance an enlarged spleen is contributing to your problem, as the docs about splenic ablation/lesioning as a way of fighting low platelets. Many of us develop large, swollen spleens from the pancreatic cancer pressing on blood vessels (draining veins from spleen). This causes back up of blood and swelling in the spleen with enlargement in the spleen over time. Platelets get broken down in the spleen, so if it is bigger... more get broken down.
