Has anyone heard of using romiplostim for thrombocytomenia (low platelets)? My father's platelets have tanked since being switched from Folfirinox to GTX (doses of Xeloda and gemcitabine have had to be significantly reduced). Romiplostim is like neupogen for platelets, however it has only been approved for use in ITP (an autoimmune platelet disorder). I have read a few case reports of its use with chemotherapy, however his oncologist will not consider using it off label.
