I can also tell you that the very moment we walked out of the PCP's office when she was first DX'd, we had not even made it to the car and she was asking me how soon she could start treatments of some kind.
Advanced Directives are the same in many ways, you think what you would want in most cases without ever facing it for real. It does represent what you would most likely want if you could decide and had to only make a mechanical decision and non-emotional.
Looking back, Sherrie had told me she would never take any treatments because she saw how sick other family members had been from treatments and died anyway ( other Cancers ). Also, to date, she has never looked back and said-I wished I had never taken treatments and lived another 7 years 8 months without surgery. Even if treatments only extend your life 2 weeks which is kind of incorrect to say the least, what is just one more day with your family worth ?
I tell everyone they should at least try a treatment series and then decide to continue or not as not everyone gets ill to a point that it ruins their quality.
Thoughts and prayers,
