My husband received Pleurix drain a few weeks ago. Over the past 2 years he has had fluid build-up requiring drains about 3 times. He has not had any discomfort from the draining process. We have been draining twice a week and the amount ranges from 500mL to 2000mL. He gets disappointed when we only get 500mL because his stomach is so large. He has lost so much weight over the last year that his stomach looks huge against his thin frame. In addition to the abdomen swelling, his scrotum area is swollen as well; extremely uncomfortable. It has been 3 years since whipple surgery and he says that if could get this fluid under control, he would feel normal. In the past he has fluid issues that resolved on their own, but it doesn't look like this is going to be the case this time. I wish you luck
