We even wanted to hire a private nurse for the first few nights but the
clinical nurse and surgeon said that Sloan Kettering deals with so many
surgeries of this type and others that their staff is experienced to such a
degree that a private nurse was totally unnecessary. We went along with
their suggestion not to hire one and there was no need as it turned out.
They were 100% correct with their advice to us. If the hospital where the
surgery is to take place is a high volume place, then chances are it will be
the same in your family's situation.
