Gemzar/Abraxane/Hedgehog is an excellent trial, which I am on now. No figures yet for effectiveness, but Gemzar/Abraxane alone has published response rates as high as 50%, where the response rate is the percentage of patients who showed at least some tumor shrinkage for some period of time.

Side effects include peripheral neuropathy (I have tingling and numbness in my feet and toes and a little bit in my hands) due to the Abraxane and major changes in the sense of taste -- and not for the better! -- due to the Hedgehog drug.

Once you are hooked up, it only takes about 90 minutes to get through the treatment. I get treated on Fridays. I am usually fine on Saturday, get sick with a fever by Sunday afternoon, and am too sleepy to go to work on Monday. Tuesday-Thursday, not so bad.
