After cyberknife treatments to both lungs CA19-9 rose from 847 to 991. Husband continues to have pains/aches under ribcage to back. Oncologist ordered CTscans abdomin & chest along with a nuclear bone scan. The cyberknife treatments worked - thank God - and no 'new' masses found, bones are fine too! Oncologist cannot answer why the pains but due to increase in CA19 numbers is putting him back on Gemzar and scanning in 3 months. Scan report noted several 'sub 5mm' nodules in lungs (some noncalcified) as well as a 'bilobed 26X16mm mass in left lobe of liver which has been seen in previous scans. Also noted that 'tail of pancreas is atrophied' which concerns me - his original tumor removed via Whipple was on the head. Why would the tail of the pancreas atrophy???? I have emailed onc with these questions but thought I would throw this out there for the bright and experienced minds on this board. Thanks!
