Two weeks off chemo could definitely lead to an increase to 235. That is a totally normal value! I would be relieved that his bone marrow is healthy enough that it bounced back so quickly.

Sometimes when you have a very strong infection, the platelets can jump up high - higher then normal values. But this sounds just like a normal response to recovering from chemo to me.

I am more concerned about the low value of 16. That is getting dangerously low. He will need to be followed very closely when he gets the same chemo... or maybe get a lower dose of the chemo. Watch for ANY sign of bleeding and call doctor immediately.
