My husband swears his voice is not as strong as it was and he blames the Whipple. :) He's pretty nuch a goofball so we ignore that. I think it has to do with generalized weakness. It takes effort to talk. I have clinical depression and I notice when I am in the midst of a real 'downer' I find it hard to muster the energy to get words out. My voice gets weak and poeple have a hard time hearing me. It's just too hard to talk.
