My dad will be 81 in august he has portal vein involvement. He too is going through treatment to shrink the tumor away from the vein so that maybe he can have the whipple. Because of daddies age the doctors have decided to do gemzar alone for 2 rounds re-test and if the vein is still involved then move to radiation and chemo. I thought he should be hit harder to begin with but the doctors wanted to go least invasive moving to more invasive if necessary I'm sure daddies age played a big part in the decision making. Hugs
