I did 5 weeks of radiation with Xeloda (pill form of 5FU) and found it helped me to have eaten prior to radiation. I did my radiation every morning and having a bowl of a cherrios worked for me. The doctor was regularily asking if I had nausea but never did.

It may be something that he has to make some adjustments to as treatment proceed. The good thing is that the doctors and nurses will be constantly checking/asking him so he just needs to speak up. They are there to help him complete the treatment AND have a good quality of life.
