Hi, I am so sorry your loved one has to go through this. My Mom passed from
this at age 76 in 2002. It is so frustrating because this is a very rare
cancer. I would get a second opinion because some doctors recommend gemzer or
xeloda because they are not too invasive and may help with quality of life.
The pancreatic cancer board accessed using the link on top can be helpful b/c
many issues are the same. So do go to that board for support. I can say that
over the past 8 years, I have communicated with and stayed active on board
with about 8 to 12 patients with GBC who lived longer than a year rather than
the typical 3 to 4 month estimates. I can tell you that the right doctors can
control the pain and patients seem to have a relatively good quality of life.
Use the search optuion about that can retireve messages about 'chemotherapy,'
etc. The archived posts provide a wealth of information. Again, the folks on
the pancreatic board are very supportive and knowledgeable. My Mom passed of
sepsis rather than GBC. Please post on the pancreatic board because it is a
family and they sometimes understand when no one else does. I am so sorry you
and your loved one has found yourselves here, but concentrate on making
memories. Good luck and God bless on your journey. Let me know if there is
anything I can do to help. Sincerely, Carole
