Aloha. It seems that PC patients often do not experience a "typical ending". This vicious disease often moves very swiftly at the end. The symptoms that you've quoted sometimes last for only a few days -- or even less. As many patients have already experienced those same symptoms one or more times from both the illness and their medications, we tend not to recognize them as signs that "the end" is drawing near. I think that this is why it is so important to have Hospice or other medical practioners who are experienced with PC patients participating in the care of our loved ones. This disease is simply like no other.
