Eileen,My husband is having a good day today. For the first time since May, we went to his daughter's house for supper. He said that he was too tired to go but agreed that when we got home that he was glad he went to her house to eat. He also got a chance to be with his son and grandson. He uses the wheelchair all the time now. He is so very weak and is afraid that he might fall. When my husband was first diagnosed in May, he would sleep on the couch because it was easier to grab on to and turn over. I would place a sturdy wooden chair beside the couch which he would grab on to and pull up with. I also put concrete blocks under the legs of the couch which made it higher up and easier to get off of. It may not look good but I am trying to make our home as comfortable for him as possible. I have since borrowed a daybed from my mom which my husband sleeps in most of the time. It is very sturdy and I have the rails that slide under the mattress that he uses to pull up on. This is in my living room where he can watch his football games when he feels like it. I have taken permanent residence on the couch at bedtime. I also placed 2 twin beds with rails in one of our bedrooms which we both sleep in from time to time when he wants a change of scenery. Maybe some of the things I mentioned my help. One thing that we got on Wednesday were some gas logs to place in our fireplace. He has enjoyed them so much. He says they are very relaxing. I love watching him watch them burn. I'm glad you and your husband got to do something normal -going out to eat. The normal things are what I look forward to doing with my husband. You and your husband will be in our prayers. Betty
