see if you can get him to eat a small piece of liver everyday to pick up the hemoblobin level. It will also help the level of b12. He might need to take b6 and possibly a small dose of gabapentin for the neuropathy. Drs usually order to high a dose of gabapentin and it can make you sleepy. I couldn't get my drs to lower my dose of gabapentin so I take that 100 mg capsule and open it and dump half the amount out and take that in the am and it works but doesn't make me too tired. Then I take the full dose at night for sleeping if I need it. It works well on nerve pain but the b6 should help heal the nerves. There was a women here whose husband took 50 dose of b6 and he never had neuropathy.

Look it up online.

Don't over cook the liver. Just a small piece every day will help get rid of his anemia and up the hemoglobin. If you are going to cook it with onions use red onions so he won't get gas. Some people cook bacon with it too and crumble it on top.
