I so hear you! We have had some of the supposedly best doctors be the most heartless and rude with us including the great and mighty Mayo Clinic (right after diagnosis they told us there was NOTHING they could do, they wouldn't even offer up a chemo plan. All they said was come back when the cancer has metastasized and maybe we'll have a trial you can get into. I wonder if they would have said that to the Queen of England? or the President of the U.S. or George Clooney for that matter - they told us that they were the 'experts' and it didn't matter what other doctors told us, BUT....if we ever got to the point of being able to have surgery, to be sure to come back to them - yeah right).

We then went to an appt. with Dr. Von Hoff - (we specifically went there because we had read so much about how inspiring and hopeful Dr. Von Hoff was and at that point my husband really, really needed to have someone believe that he could live for awhile) - that appt. got screwed up and we saw an associate of Von Hoff's who also questioned why we bothered to travel to Arizona and directed us to a clinical trial at Mayo in Rochester, which turned out to be closed when we checked into it. Those 2 days, a year and half ago, were the worst days of our lives (besides the day of the diagnosis, of course).

Well, turns out that 19 months later we're still here despite both of them. It is disheartening, however, that people that are already in despair have to endure even more heartache - I hope they don't think they're doing us a favor. The toll that these kind of attitudes have on the people struggling every day with this dreadful disease is devastating.
