by a nurse at JHH that where I was raised has high PC rate, per capita, as compared to the rest of our state. Area is unique due to us being a small island community on a peninsula surrounded by ocean on one side and the Bay on the other. Pollution from the northern industries (several states away)was being drained into our Bay for many years before the gov't attempted to get involved. I swam in the river, creeks and backwaters everyday of my life from first thaw until first cold spell. My family made their living on the Bay (crabs, fishoysters, etc) and we ate from the Bay. We trapped in the marshes and ate off of the land. We hunted and our game fed on the habitat which was also tainted by the pollution. I think it is amazing we aren't radioactive or weren't born with three arms. I believe this may well have contributed to my PC.
