I drink wine with dinner with my doctor's blessing. I have never been a heavy drinker, and do not believe for one minute that alcohol caused me to develop pancreatic cancer. I also never smoked. I do not consume alcohol to get high, or to make the 'pain go away'. If your husband is binging to the point of being intoxicated, I would be more concerned about his state of mind and possible challenge at coping with with what he has been through than the alcohol causing a recurrence. Men often don't want to admit fear or weakness. Maybe you can get him to speak with his doctor?

One positive affect of small amounts of wine with meals is that it can stimulate appetite. Something that is often a challenge for people who have had Whipple surgery.

Had surgery eight years ago.
