I was wondering if anyone had any information about the Phase 1 clinical trial going on at Johns Hopkins in regards to the drug Ipilimumab? The vaccine will be given in addition to the drug to 50% of randomized individuals participating in the study.
My father is diagnosed with stage 1V PC with a few mets to the liver, 1 met to the lung, and a recent reoccurance on the original spot on the pancreas. He did have a Whipple last October.
My parents are at Johns Hopkins at this time discussing treatment options. They presented this trial as an option, and are really overwhelmed and confused with the decision they must make in regards to beginning the trial or continuing standard treatment. Chemotherapy (first Gemzar, and then Folfox) has had no success in controlling tumor growth, so obviously different combinations would have to be attempted.
Lauren, I saw that you actually posted something earlier about this study, and was wondering if you had any more specific details in regards to success, side effects, etc.... If anyone has any knowledge at all about this trial, I would really appreciate the information.
Thank you ....
