MarkB should give you some hope.... see his story below...

My mom was 67 years old and in good health before she was diagnosed in Dec '09. Her tumor was also as big as your mom's, and with many huge ones in the liver, everywhere in lungs (couldn't even count, so many), spine etc... Lots of bad stuff. She has been on Gemcitabine/Oxaliplatin since then, and each scan looks better. The side effects have been a roller coaster for us.

I can't imagine what you all must be feeling with your mom's tumultuous path.
