My 97 y.o. mom takes Neurontin. It doesn't make her 'high', but it does cause her to fall asleep unless she's doing something really stimulating, like playing a game or walking. If she tries to read a book, she tends to nod off. She's taking it for trigeminal neuralgia pain and it is very effective. It was originally used by doctors for peripheral neuropathy related to diabetes.
