Pancreas CancerGluatimine Part II was posted 06/29/2010 06:37 pm by Phyllis in KY
Recently I posted some info I found from Mayo on glutamine and possible
side-effects. I've been trying to find a solution for the problems my
husband has had on Folfox, including pretty nasty stomach distress. Went to
a web-site called Drugs.com and put in the different medications he is on
trying to see if there was a drug interaction problem. In fact, the website
said that the chemo and nauseau medicines could be contra-indicated with his
dilantin, raising dilatin serum levels and contibuting to his nauseau,
constipation and como-like tiredness for several days following chemo.
Brought this up with his doctor and he is sending Mart to a neurologist to
change seizure medicines. So this issue may have NOT been with the
glutamine, not sure yet. I worried some people with my posting and thought I
should update. Hopefully we have found the problem with the dilantin,
because the folfox is working well for him - his CA-19 dropped since a
high-point of 1200+ on gemzar, to the latest of 252.
Didn't want to scare anyone off the glutamine or folfox, so wanted to attempt
to update the situation. The interaction checker on Drugs.com is a great tool
for anyone taking multiple medications.
