PC is more of a killer than Xeloda. I would say, just enjoy the time you have, because ascites (in our case) was very indicative of a decline. I hope your Dad will regroup and that it won't bother him. Talk to the doctors and don't let them ignore your questions. Do the paracentesis, it will make him feel better (if your doctors think that is the best thing to do), and just enjoy your time together. My best thoughts are sent to you, your family and your Dad.
