Audrey, first let me say how sorry I am about your mother in law's diagnosis pf pc. My sister Fran was diagnoed three months ago and is undergoing treatment at MD Anderson. I am an oncology nurse and I'm concerned that your mom-in-law has been told that she'll have terrible pain. I'd be inclined to encourage her to have a second opinion first because it is usually a good idea and this does not necessarily mean any additional tests{she can take her old ones to be reviewed} but also because there is no need for her to suffer in pain. There are many options for relief that can be explored. Her future care and treatment should however be her decision alone since she alone will face the consequences. The best we can do as family is to be supportive and cherish the time we have. God Bless and good luck.
