Hi Lyn, My mom presented with the typical sypmtoms of obstruction, jaundice, malaise, etc. This all showed up about 3 weeks post laproscopic gall bladder removal. The initial thought was an injury to the duct system during surgery as her gall bladder was quite diseased although not with cancer.

Her first brusting and biopsy were negative. It wasn't until the 3rd biopsy during stent replacement that cancer was confirmed. She had a Klatskin tumor.

She received the confirmation of cancer in Feb. of 2005, but her initial surgery and presentation was Oct/Nov. of 2004. She had only palliative stenting for her treatment and lived until April 19, 2008. Her cancer was a slow growing one and her mission was to fool everyone with her initial prognosis of 8-10 months. That she did.

I am sorry you find yourself here. Between this board and the pancreatic board, you can read a lot of good and very helpful information.

Let me know if I can answer any more questions. I would be glad to help however I can.
