A tumor marker test can be done on a every 28 day schedule. It is called CA-19-9. If the numbers returned go up, the Gemzar is not working. If they stay the same or go down, it is working. As long as some thing is working, stay with it. At the time of the testing, YOU have the right to request a copy of your own. With or without the doctor you can easily tell if they are going the right way. You have a right to your own records, but if you do not exercise that right, you have to depend on the doctor.
