My husband Ernie is on the Folfox regimen - 3 drugs - including Oxaliplatin, which has done a big NUMBER on him with awful peripheral neuropathy. I am worried that his damage is permanent. Also, he can't taste so his weight keeps dropping. It isn't the cancer that's causing the problems he's having - it's the awful chemo side effects that are bringing him down. I'm going to ask the oncologist to lower the dosage or give him a different chemo drug(s). Ernie was on Gemzar & a clincial trial for over a year then developed acute kidney failure from the gemzar. He has a small nodule (PC met) in the lung that is stabilized. He will be a 2 year survivor May 1st (Stage IV - whipple)but his quality of life has decreased with the chemo side effects in the last few months.
