NuIron 150 mg. is iron tablets you get from the pharmacist; it is behind the counter; recommended by our oncology surgeon; it has really helped my husband with the anemea from the chemo; 6 mos of gemzar; once a week for three weeks, then one week off. After he started the NuIron, he started gaining weight and his blood work has improved a lot. What I learned is that Zofran works well for nausea for the chemo; so he was on that; BUT once he started taking Compazine, he never once vomited. He would take it the day of chemo. I think the steroids actually made him want to vomit, but anyway, if you can get some Compazine, that really works well; I think it has a slight sedative effect, but ask your doctor. ALSO, worked really well, ginger ale, and sometimes ginger cookies on the day of chemo. On days when they gave him a bag of saline i.v. right after chemo, he didn't have such bad side effects; so hydration is really important. Good luck to you; there is no reason he should have to go through vomiting with all the good medications they have for it now; call your doctor and see what they can do for him!
