Sometimes Gemzar does stop working (although my Mom is having very good results with it for the last 5 months). One of the keys is that the tumors will start growing and/or her tumor marker counts will increase. There are drug combinations they can try if the Gemzar stops being effective. The more upsetting part of your story is the reluctance of her doctor to divulge info. It is IMPERATIVE with this disease to be a team with your doctor. If he/she is difficult to talk to; isn't proactive; doesn't give you the feeling that they will fight till the end, etc., please find someone who will. You need to be informed with every stepo and then some. Thats why this page is so wonderful. So be prepared to fight long and hard but your fight should be concentrated on the disease and you shouldn't have to waste energy on the doctor. Take care.
